Key Battles Win Wars: New Year Resolutions

January 4, 2011 | General

As one year ends and another begins, we are in our reflection and reminiscing mode. Reassessing and evaluating, evaluating and reassessing our lives with fine tooth combs. In the mist of these deep thoughts, we come up with a list of New Year resolutions filled with things we want to do, change, improve, join, give, and try. To be honest, most of us will NOT achieve our New Year resolutions. It may seem harsh but it is the reality. Think about it, how many people do you know or more specifically, how many New Year resolutions have you stuck with and seen through? However, there are many things over this past year we have fulfilled and should be proud of our achievements. For example, telling people how you feel about them, overcoming a personal fear, stepping out of your comfort zone, and repairing a relationship. If we get down to it, we have something to celebrate.

Last year, we have things we accomplished that we did not consider as resolutions but should have been; we achieved great things. Those attainments may seem small to someone else but they are huge for us and should be recognized. The small things that produce the most growth in our lives, are more valuable, and will last longer and create more change than the “big things”.  Life is about winning key battles. When we win the key battles, we win the wars.
