ABOUT

BREATHE YOUTH ARTS PROGRAM

Breathe provides year-round arts sessions for grades 5-12 in Madisonville and Bowling Green,  KY as well as virtually at no cost. Breathe Youth Arts Program is a community-based, youth program of Light of Chance that is geared toward artistic expression, leadership, and social skills through visual arts, culinary arts, music, dance, and yoga.

While no artistic talent is needed, Breathe grows creativity for our students, while providing a positive environment and outlet for youth to express themselves, engage in important issues, and experience personal and social growth through the arts. The program provides a creative outlet that encourages cooperation and teamwork.

Students work with programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva, and create various forms of studio art, including paintings and sculptors.

Culinary Arts

In Madisonville only, students learn hands-on and interactive cooking lessons in which the instructor will help students prepare and cook meals and snacks. In addition, educate the students about the importance of healthy eating through topics like proper portion sizes, common nutrition myths, recommended calorie intake, and more.

Can my child start attending after the session has already begun?

Yes, we have ongoing registrations and students can attend anytime once the session has begun.

Does it cost anything for my child to attend Breathe?

No, all Breathe classes are offered at no cost.

How old does my child have to be to attend Breathe?

Any age within grades -12 or roughly 10-18 years old.

Can my child attend more than one class?

Yes, students can attend yoga and one art class of their choice.

Can my child attend both virtually and in-person?

Yes, they can attend both.

Is the Virtual Breathe Youth Arts Program only offered to Kentucky residents?

No, anyone living in the United States in grades 5-12 can attend Virtual Breathe classes.

Do you accept students with Autism and other special needs?

Yes, we accept all types of students as long as their in grades 5-12.

Do students have to have a certain skill level to attend the Breathe Youth Arts Program?

No, students can have any skill level from beginner to proficient.

Do I have to live in Bowling Green or Madisonville for my child to be able to attend Breathe in person?

No, we accept students from surrounding communities as well as Bowling Green and Madisonville.

Do you provide transportation?

Sorry, at this moment we do not provide transportation.

How experienced are Light of Chance teaching artists and instructors?

Most of our teaching artists and instructors have Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degrees in their field and several hours of experience or certification hours.

Can Breathe be offed in schools in the community?

Yes, we offer Breathe residencies to local schools. Visit our Breathe Residencies page for more information.

Do Breathe students perform in the community?

Yes, we host Community Showcases at the end of each session and perform at various other community events. If you would like us to perform, please contact us.
