ABOUT

We have made it easier than ever to refer students to any of the Light of Chance, Inc. programs! Referral forms allow us to support youth and provide updates to the referring individual or agency. We are a Kentucky-approved youth diversion program and accept referrals from parents, DCBS workers, CDW offices, DJJ workers, counselors, judges, teachers, principals, and more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to fill out a referral form for a child to attend any Light of Chance programs?

Yes, referral forms help us keep track of the person referred and allow us to send updates on each student to their referring agency.

How many classes do you recommend for a diversion?

We recommend a minimum of six classes for best results.

What type of youth offenders do you all accept?

We work with but are not limited to status, public, and youthful offenders.

How much do Educational Classes cost?

Educational Classes are $10 per class and have no cost for Kentucky Medicaid recipients.

Which platform(s) are needed or utilized for Light of Chance programs?

We use Google Classroom and Google Meet for our Virtual Breathe Youth Arts Program, Parenting Classes, and Educational Groups. We also utilize Psychology Today for virtual assessments and counseling appointments.

Do I have to send a referral for for each child I want to attend Light of Chance programs?

Yes, we need a separate referral form for each student.

Do I have to send a referral for for each program I want a child to attend?

No, you can refer a child to more than one program within Light of Chance and indicate it on one single referral form.

Do students have to have a certain skill level to attend the Breathe Youth Arts Program?

No, students can have any skill level from beginner to proficient.

Do you accept homeschooled students?

Yes, we accept all students in grades 5-12.

Do you accept students with Autism and other special needs?

Yes, we accept all types of students as long as their in grades 5-12.

How do parents and students receive program updates and other information?

We provide updates and information via email and using the Remind app.

Does Light of Chance use Zoom for any classes?

No, we do not use Zoom for any of our virtual programs.

CLASS OPTIONS

Breathe provides year-round arts sessions for grades 5-12 in Madisonville and Bowling Green, KY as well as virtually at no cost. Breathe Youth Arts Program is a community-based, youth program of Light of Chance that is geared toward artistic expression, leadership, and social skills through visual arts, culinary arts, music, and dance.

Educational Groups are for grades 5-12 to help develop communication and socialization skills and allow people to learn how to express themselves and develop self-awareness by listening to others with similar challenges.

Parenting Classes consist of assisting parents, grandparents, and teachers in gaining the skills necessary to become better parents.

THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS

Individuals, groups, and family counseling. We licensed therapists, certified peer specialists, and targeted case managers on its roster of mental health professionals ready to assist your needs.

Peer support is a service provided by breakthrough staff who have lived experiences in mental health. Services may take place in one-on-one sessions or in group settings. Our Certified Peer Support Specialists provide social and emotional assistance in a safe and trusting environment.

Targeted Case Management (TCM) services are available for children, teenagers, and adults. It is for individuals that have emotional and/or behavioral difficulties.
